A Guide to CDB Oil

CBD is short for Cannabidiol, a well-known plant extract taken from the Cannabis Sativa L plant, a cousin of the infamous Marijuana Cannabis plant. CBD, however, is a natural, safe botanical extract and contains no harmful or psychoactive component.

CBD is available as an ingestible oil but is now increasingly used in high quality topical cosmetics, skin treatments, sports recovery balms and as a food additive.

Cannabidiol has, for centuries, been used to ease both acute and chronic pain as well as sleep disruption and stress. More recently the beneficial effects on the skin has been discovered and CBD is now used topically as a general conditioner and moisturiser as well as a treatment for many common skin disorders.

What Can CBD Do For You?

Because of a lack of serious interest in natural CBD as an alternative to manufactured pharma products for pain relief, in-depth long-term clinical research into the beneficial effects of CBD has been limited.

However, the research that has been done, added to considerable anecdotal evidence, shows that CBD delivers tangible relief from acute pain caused by sports exertion or impact, as well as chronic pain from conditions such as arthritis, gout, tendonitis, fibromyalgia and a compromise of the immune system. In short CBD has been described as nature’s natural analgesic

As more research is done, considerable benefits are being revealed in the area of topical skin treatment for overall conditioning of the skin and help in the management of acne, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis, rosacea and the healing of scars and distressed skin.

It is difficult to anticipate the wellbeing effect of CBD upon each individual person but as it’s a perfectly safe and natural food supplement, either taken as an oil or applied to the skin, and is free of any side effects….. give it a try yourself!

Is CBD Oil Legal in the UK

CBD oil is completely safe and legal to use in the UK.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the psychoactive component of the Marijuana Cannabis plant. The cannabis Sativa L plant contains much less of this compound and the extraction process of carefully crafted broad spectrum CBD, removes any possible residual THC to zero. With no psychoactive component present, CBD is classified as a harmless food supplement.

CBD edible products, such as oils, require registration with the Food Standards Agency in the UK to ensure there is a purity of manufacture, no psychoactive components are present and the highest standards of production are maintained.

CandroPure oils by EssPura are broad spectrum CBD oils are registered with the FSA ensuring their quality, safety, purity and efficacy.

Are There Different Qualities of CBD Oil?

Is the earth round?… Of course!

With the growth in demand for CBD oils many opportunist suppliers have introduced cheaply produced CBD that promises much… But delivers little.

Grown under less demanding conditions, extracted under extreme temperatures and pressures, hastily produced CBD isolate removes the additional beneficial compounds and aromatics that make CBD so effective. This damages the holistic benefit of CBD as an ingestible oil.

Although a cheap option… CBD as an isolated single compound, added to cheaply produced carrier oils such as MCT, coconut oil or fish oil, even in high strengths, may not deliver the benefits you expect.

What Makes a Good CBD Oil?

Organically produced Cannabidiol (CBD), free from impurities, pesticides, insecticides and herbicides, naturally grown in a carefully controlled environment is the absolutely basic requirement of quality CBD oil.

CBD, used as an ingestible oil, is at its most effective when extracted naturally and gently at low temperatures, allowing additional plant compounds and natural aromatics called ‘terpenes’ to remain undamaged and as part of the oil.

The combined effect of all the natural, complementary compounds and terpenes found in high quality broad spectrum CBD oil is so noticeable that the effect has its own description…… It is known as ‘the entourage effect’.

A quick measure of the quality and efficacy of CBD oil will often be the price. Broad spectrum CBD oils are more delicately extracted, more patiently produced, and more carefully preserved….. A premium product.

Less expensive CBD oils, produced using CBD isolate or distillate only suspended in a sterile carrier oil, with give you a cheaper option but without the entourage or holistic effect that high quality broad spectrum CBD oil will offer.

CandroPure oils by EssPura are fully broad spectrum CBD oils containing all the beneficial compounds and terpenes suspended in its natural hemp oil for the most benefit to your health and wellbeing.

How Do I Take CBD Oil?

CBD oil is dropped under the tongue, allowed to linger for 30-60 seconds and then swallowed.

If you’re new to CBD oils start with an oil of a lower strength such as 500mg CBD per 10 ml (5%). The body’s response to CBD and your individual needs will vary so, start low and increase potency if you need to.

Be aware that CBD works on the principle of a ‘bell curve’. There is a peak of effectiveness for every individual to aspire to when taking CBD. If you take more than is ideal you will begin to lose the beneficial effect you had hoped for. Don’t assume the more CBD you take the better it will be for you.

Gently increase the potency of the CBD you are taking. If the beneficial effect begins to fade, reduce the amount or potency of CBD you are taking. Experience will tell you at what level you have achieved maximum benefit.

Within the UK the current maximum daily intake of broad spectrum CBD in oils recommended by the Foods Standards Agency is 70mg. At this time there is no firm or reported evidence that higher levels of CBD are in any way harmful. The RRD offered by the Food Standards Agency is merely advisory.

Why Is CBD Used in Topical Skin Treatments?

High quality skin creams, lotions, balms and salves containing CBD as well as other botanical extracts are now highly prized for their therapeutic, anti-inflammatory and skin conditioning properties.

When applied CBD molecules are absorbed by the skin, interacting with receptors within the skin to help regulate their activity and particularly moderate their responses to pain, inflammation and skin health.

In practice, CBD’s analgesic effect is understood to help ease both acute and chronic muscle and joint discomfort. The anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and soothing properties of CBD added to carefully chosen natural plant extracts will support the daily battle against skin disorders such as acne, eczema, dermatitis, psoriasis and rosacea.
